Artist to sign book at Fort Plain library

November 20, 2009

FORT PLAIN — Local watercolor artist Joanne Resch will be available Sunday beginning at 2 p.m. at the Fort Plain Free Library to autograph her newly published book of sketches and vignettes, “Journaling Along the Mohawk: Sketches and Memoirs of the Central Mohawk Valley.” Copies will be for sale. Resch’s journal is composed of watercolor renderings depicting various historic and popular sites throughout the region. The sketches are complimented by the author’s personal reflections as well as quotes from Mohawk Valley residents and historical notations. Resch is a native of the Mohawk Valley and creates original artwork in her studio at the Dutchmaster’s Joinery. Refreshments will be served.

Tree-lighting event set at Wells House

JOHNSTOWN — The Wells House Auxiliary will have its tree-lighting ceremony at 2 p.m. Dec. 5.

The event is a major fundraiser for the group, a news release said.

Lights can be purchased in memory of or to honor loved ones.
