Area company receives state grant
AMSTERDAM — A local company has been awarded a $200,000 state grant, officials announced Friday. Breton Industries, which designs and manufactures custom heat-sealed fabric items for the U.S. military and provides engineering research and development services for the Department of Defense, was given the grant by the Empire State Development Corp. The grant will aid in the construction of a 20,000-square-foot addition to the company’s facility, which will allow the company to retain 106 employees and create 10 new jobs, according to a news release.

JOHNSTOWN — The Wells House Auxiliary will have its tree lighting ceremony at 2 p.m. Dec. 6.
According to a news release, the tree lighting is a major fundraiser for the group.
