College fails to show both sides of issue
This letter is in regard to the Nov. 10 story with the headline, “Speaker opens eyes at college.” Here we go again. Fulton-Montgomery Community College, a tax-funded institution, cherry-picks a professor, Sarah Curi, from a tax recipient, Brandeis University, to lecture on her version of our nation’s health care reform policy. Where is the other side of this reform controversy? What a great learning experience for the students if this lecture was held in a debate forum, with another person with similar credentials contesting the pro and cons of this reform. She states our country ranks 37th in the world. Says who? She states 44,000 lose their insurance every week. Let’s see, in 10 weeks, that’s 440,000; in one year, that’s 2,288,000. With stats like that, you are going to run out of people. Without any authoritative authenticity of her statements (she mentions none), this lecture can be dismissed as her, and whoever brought her to campus, opinion/agenda only.
