Gifford, Dahill-Zanella to be honored

NORTHVILLE — During the 2008-09 basketball season, Tucker Gifford guided the Broadalbin-Perth boys’ basketball team to the Section II Class B championship. His coaching performance was honored by the Basketball Coaches Association of New York as Section II Class B Coach of the Year. During his four-year basketball career at Northville High School, Gifford connected for 1,074 points. Now his efforts in a Falcons’ uniform are being recognized by his alma mater. Friday night, Gifford will be inducted into the Northville Central School Athletic Hall of Fame. He will be joined by Cathie Dahill-Zanella as a member of the eighth induction class to be honored by the school. “I was shocked when they called me about three weeks ago,” Gifford said. “It means a lot and it is a great honor. There are a lot of great athletes that have come through Northville through the course of history. I am just glad to be up on the wall with them.” Gifford graduated from Northville High School in 199.

Royal supercross event postponed
CAROGA LAKE — Wet weather forced the postponement of Wednesday’s Monster Supercross event at Royal Mountain Ski Area.
The event has been rescheduled for Aug. 1 at 5 p.m.
