Patriots set to face Marcellus

BROADALBIN — The Broadalbin-Perth High School auditorium was packed with classmates and fans Friday to give the boys soccer team a rousing send off to the state championship final four tournament. The Class B regional champion Patriots will play Section III champion Marcellus at 10:30 a.m. today a semifinal match at the National Soccer Hall of Fame complex in Oneonta. “It feels good to know that everybody is behind us and did this for us,” senior captain and goalkeeper Jared LaPorte said. Senior defender Bryant Smith echoed LaPorte’s comment, saying: “We like the support from our class and all the community,” he said. The Patriots (18-1-2) advanced to the state final four with four straight postseason shut outs to up their season total to 15. After defeating Johnstown 1-0 to win the Section II Class B championship, B-P cruised past Potsdam (Sect. X) 2-0 and turned back Section VII powerhouse Plattsburgh 2-0 to claim their first final four appearance in school history.

Four Wells players earn MVAC honors
WELLS — Four members of the Wells girls soccer team recently were honored as Mountain and Valley Athletic Conference Division III all-stars.
Valerie Hayes, Liz Perkins, Emily Michienzi and Heather Abbott earned all-star honors for Wells.
Annual card show slated for Nov. 25
