POULTNEY, Vt. — Chelsea Paul was an accomplished basketball player in high school. The former Northville standout and 1,000-point scorer recently completed her freshman season at Green Mountain College in Poultney, Vt., where the success has continued. Paul led the North Atlantic Conference in scoring with 18.2 points per game. She also finished grabbing 6.6 rebounds per game, led the conference in 3-point percentage (44.2 percent) and shot 86 percent from the foul line for the Eagles. She was named to the all-conference second team and was the rookie of the week for the week of Dec. 14. Paul’s rookie season was so impressive to her coach, Jen Heath, that Paul became one of the Eagles’ top options on offense late in games, along with senior Emma Brinley-Buckley. “She was one of our go-to players at the end of the game if we needed someone to have the ball and make a big shot,” Heath said. “She drove to the basket a lot and was able to get to the foul line because of that.
