SCOTIA — Gloversville’s 6-1 lead in the third inning was threatened by a four-run rally in the bottom half, but the Huskies kept Scotia-Glenville at bay in a 10-7 win in the semifinals of the Foothills Council Tournament.

Eric Simek threw the complete game for Gloversville and got backup from Tyler Malagisi’s 3-for-5 performance and Gabe Wells’ 3-for-4 day. Malagisi drove in one run for the third-seeded Huskies and Wells doubled and drove in two.

For second-seeded Scotia-Glenville, Jared Swider went 4-for-5 and Nick Madcharo went 2-for-3 with an RBI.

At 7 p.m. Monday, Gloversville will host Johnstown, a 5-3 winner over top-seeded South Glens Falls, in the Foothills Council Tournament championship.

Johnstown 5, South Glens Falls 3

SOUTH GLENS FALLS — Johnstown got out to an early lead and made it stick.

Jason Biron went the distance on the mound for the Sir Bills just a day after they used up four pitchers in a 15-14 win over Queensbury.

The win moves Johnstown into today’s Foothills Council Tournament championship game at 4:15 p.m. at Gloversville, a 10-7 winner over Scotia-Glenville.

In Thursday’s game, Craig Cook recorded three hits and drove in two RBIs for Johnstown (10-7 overall). Wes Clark had two hits, including a double, and an RBI. The other two runs were driven in by Ryan Brown.

For South Glens Falls, Jerry Powers had two hits, including a double, Shawn Lachapelle smacked a triple and Tyler Greene had a double and an RBI.

The Sir Bills won the tournament last year with a win over South High in the finals.

Glens Falls 13, Broadalbin-Perth 12

QUEENSBURY — Jimmy Richards hit a two-run double in the bottom of the seventh giving Glens Falls a walk-off win over Broadalbin-Perth in the consolation round of the Foothills Council tournament.

Nico Butcher, Garrett Brower, Joey Wojcik and Corey Caswell all had two hits for the Patriots (3-17 overall), who host Hudson Falls today at 4:15 p.m.

The baseball teams are playing under lights now no wonder they have to get rid of libraries
