B-P girls second, Johnstown boys third at Foothills championships

BROADALBIN — Chelsea Gruet won the 100 meters and the 100 hurdles leading the Broadalbin-Perth girls’ track and field team to a second-place finish with 137.5 points.

Johnstown was third with 78.5 points and Gloversville was seventh with 39.

Schuyler Duross led the Johnstown boys’ team with wins in the high jump, long jump and triple jump as the Sir Bills finished third with 74 points. Gloversville was sixth with 60 points and Broadalbin-Perth was eighth with 41.

Queensbury swept both the boys’ and girls’ titles.

Gruet finished the 100 in 12.9 and Johnstown’s Erica Hecht was fourth in 13.6. Gruet picked up her win the 100 hurdles with a time of 15.8 and Johnstown’s Chrissy Ripple was third in 16.7. Gloversville’s Meghan Sleezer was fifth.

Emily Bearden picked up a win for Johnstown in the 200 meters with a time of 26.5 with Gruet coming in behind her in 27.2. Lianna Ferguson was fourth and Gloversville’s Nicole Webber took fifth.

Bearden also won the 400 hurdles in 1:05.9 and Broadalbin-Perth’s Lianna Ferguson was second in 1:007.2. Gruet was third and Gloversville’s Amanda Knox took fourth.

Broadalbin-Perth’s Elizabeth Ferlazzo was second in the 800 meters in 2:32.7 and Alex Kuhl was third in 2:32.9. Gloversville’s Lacie Newland was fifth in 2:38.9.

The Lady Patriots’ Gina Cristaldi was second in the 3,000 meters in 11:03.3 and Opal Jessica Bogdan was third in 11:06.4. Cristaldi was third in the 1,500 meters in 4:55.10.

Johnstown’s 400 relay team of Erica Hecht, Ripple, Madina Alam and Emily Bearden picked up a win with a time of 51.9 and Broadalbin-Perth finished fifth.

The Lady Patriots’ 1,600 relay team of Ferguson, Julianna Mendez, Marissa Hills and Cristaldi took second. Gloversville was fourth.

Mendez, Nicole Wojciechowski, Bogdan and Kuhl were second in the 3,200 relay for the Lady Patriots with a time of 10:11.1. Gloversville and Johnstown took fourth and fifth.

Wojciechowski took third in the 2,000 steeplechase in 7:58.3 and Ferlazzo was fifth with Gloversville’s Katie Conrad taking sixth.

Broadalbin-Perth’s Joelle Guisti was second in the pole vault clearing 8-0 with Johnstown’s Madina Alam taking third with an equal vault. Mendez was fourth and Johnstown’s Chelsea Goodier tied with Hills for sixth.

Alam was second in the triple jump reaching 33-10 1/4 and Karly Vdoviak was third reaching 33-5. Goosen and Kuhl finished fifth and sixth.

Gloversville’s Leeasia Wynn was second in the shot put with a throw of 32-8 1/4 and Broadalbin-Perth’s Sara Orlowski was fifth.

Johnstown’s Felicia Sanges took third in the high jump clearing 4-10 with Sleezer, Hills and Broadalbin-Perth’s Shanise Stemmler taking fourth throw sixth.

Johnstown’s Karly Vdoviak was fourth in the 400 meters, Gloversville’s Lashonda Gifford was fifth and Kuhl was sixth.

Johnstown’s Felicia Sanges was fifth in the long jump and Broadalbin-Perth’s Alexandria Goosen was sixth.

For the boys, Duross picked up his wins taking the high jump by clearing 6-0. He won the long jump reaching 19-9 3/4 with teammate Will Johnson reaching 18-0 1/2 for sixth place. Duross cleared 43-4 1/4 in the triple jump with Johnson taking second at 40-11.

Gloversville’s Patrick Peterson won the 800 meters in 2:04.3 and Broadalbin-Perth’s Aaron Hawkins was third in 2:06.1.

Gloversville’s Josh DiMezza was second in the 100 meters in 11.5 seconds with Broadalbin-Perth’s Colby Russell and Erick Kymkow taking fifth and sixth.

DiMezza was third in the 200 in 24.0 and Colby was sixth.

Gloversville’s Chris Smith was third in the 400 meters with a time of 52.7 and Broadalbin-Perth’s Aaron Smith was fifth.

Gloversville’s Ryan Blackmon was second in the 3,200 meters with a time of 10:07.6 and Austin Hunold was sixth in the 1,600 meters in 4:53.5.

Russell was third in the 110 hurdles in 16.1 seconds with Johnstown’s Brian Kested taking fourth in 16.5.

Travis Bevington was second in the 400 hurdles with a time of 59.0 and Kested was third in 1:00.0.

Broadalbin-Perth’s Andrew Goodspeed was third in the 3,000 steeplechase in 10:34.0 with Hunold coming in fourth in 10:38.1. Broadalbin-Perth’s R.J. Reakes was sixth.

Gloversville picked up a win in the 3,200 relay with the team of Hunold, Blackmon, Peterson and Dan Wehn finishing the race in 8:28.8. Broadalbin-Perth was third and Johnstown was fifth.

Johnstown’s 400-relay team of Ethan Nicholson, Bevington, Kested and Duross was second in 45.8 and Gloversville took third.

Broadalbin-Perth was fourth in the 1,600 relay and Gloversville was sixth.

Johnstown’s Jordan Curtis was third in the discus with a 125-10 and Nate Nellis was sixth in the shot put.
