Watch out for killer pit bull
The reason for writing this letter is to let anyone who lives in the vicinity of Prospect and Kingsboro Avenue in Gloversville know there is a pit bull in your area that is killing cats and possibly other animals.
I know this because my 6- and 9-year-old grandsons came home from school recently to find their beautiful cat lying in the driveway. She was dying. Her throat was slit open and her body was mangled. She was lying in her blood that had been sprayed all over the driveway. She had just been killed by this pit bull.
The owner of this animal was seen dragging it by the collar (no leash) away from the children's house. (She knew her dog did this, but has not had the nerve to come back and apologize. Maybe it has done it before.) Needless to say, this has been very traumatic not only for these children, but for the whole family.
I am tired of hearing people defending pit bulls. They are unpredictable, and if your dog is running loose (by accident or not) and killing small animals, what is to stop it from attacking a small child or someone walking a small dog? (Didn't this happen last year in Gloversville?) What if, instead of our cat that was mauled and killed, it had been one of my grandsons?
Are you one of those fools who deny having a killer for a pet? Will this animal turn on you or someone you love someday? I hope not, but if your dog can become vicious and you can't control it, you should not own the dog.
