Children deserve food, too

POSTED: September 4, 2008

On Friday night, my husband and I went down to the Fonda Fair. This was the first time either one of us has been to the fair in about 10 years, and probably will be the last for another 10. I saw something that absolutely sickened me.

We saw what appeared to be a husband and wife with four small children, all of whom looked under the age of 5 or 6 years.

The husband and wife bought themselves each a large order of french fries and a large drink. What do you think they bought the kids? Nothing. That's right, nothing. I could not believe my eyes. Then, a couple of the small ones started crying because they wanted something, and the mother was yelling at them to shut up.

I watched them walk over by the entertainment building and stand there and eat without offering the kids anything.

Whoever these people are should be absolutely ashamed of themselves. If they couldn't have afforded to buy the kids something to eat, it seems like they shouldn't have been there in the first place. Second of all, they should have been feeding their kids first. What is wrong with these people? Are they that selfish or just down-right ignorant? Let's have another kid we can't afford to feed.
