Robert E. Miller Sr.
Robert E. Miller Sr., 90, of Gloversville, N.Y., passed away on Sunday, September 28, 2008, at his residence. He was born Nov. 30, 1917, in Falmouth, Jamaica, the son of Robert E. and Isabella Smith Miller. He attended school in Jamaica. He came to the United States in 1944. Mr. Miller was first employed at Mohasco in Amsterdam, N.Y., and for over 20 years he was employed in the maintenance deptartment of the Fulton County National Bank, retiring in 1980. He was a member and former vestryman of St. John's Episcopal Church and was a charter member of the Gloversville Housing Authority. He is survived by his wife, the former Leona Dunkle; a daughter, Hyacinth Miller of Hamden, Conn.; and five sons, Robert E. (Paulette) Miller Jr. of Toledo, Ohio, Garry (Allison) Miller of Montreal, Canada, Byron (Laura) Miller of E. Greenbush, N.Y., Dennis (Bridgette) Miller of Colonie, N.Y. and Darryl (Sheilah) Miller of Albany, N.Y. Mr. Miller is also survived by 14 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins and his special friend, Louise Darragh. A memorial service will be held at a time to be announced by the Ehle Funeral Home. Cremation will take place at Leatherstocking Crematory, Cherry Valley, N.Y. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of choice.
