Sheriff’s Office seeks to interview man in store video

GLEN - The Montgomery County Sheriff's Office has released security-camera images from the Nov. 11 robbery of the Stewart's Shop in Fort Johnson.

The camera captured images of a man who entered and left the store a few minutes before the robbery as well as the two hooded robbers entering the store.

Undersheriff Jeff Smith said this morning there are no new developments in the case except for the department checking up on leads.

The two robbers, apparently a man and a woman, entered the store at about 10:13 p.m. The man held a black handgun and demanded the cashier hand over the money in the register.

The woman waited at the door during the robbery, officials said. The two fled on foot, heading east with an undisclosed amount of cash.

The male robber was about 5 feet 9 inches tall and 200 pounds with a deep voice. Deputies said his skin color could not be determined because of the ski mask or scarf, dark hooded sweatshirt and black gloves he wore.

The female robber was blonde, about 5 feet 4 inches tall and 140 pounds. She was wearing a red piece of clothing over her face, gray pants, a blue-gray sweater and black gloves.

Smith said the man photographed in the store a few minutes before the robbery is not necessarily a suspect and is wanted by the police only for interviews to find out what he saw, if anything, on the night of the robbery.

Despite earlier reports that the man could be involved in the robbery, Smith said he is not considered a suspect and is only wanted for questioning.

Besides the robbers, he said, the man is the only person not yet identified from the night of the robbery.

"We have no information to support that he is a suspect," Smith said.

The Sheriff's Office is asking anyone with information about the crime to call 853-5500.

Callers may remain anonymous.

Deux2eye when did they ID him? I heard this mornings news they were still looking for him. Still say he was involved...maybe it's 3 people and not just 2.

If the state doesn't fix things soon this will be an everyday occurrence. When you tax people to the limit, don't to anything about sky high gas and heating costs, and lose jobs like there is no tomorrow this is what happens We will see many more Robberies, stolen cars, and even carjackings in the future. Just because you can make it through this ruff economy does not mean someone else is, and desperate people will do anything at times. This area is going to be just like Downstate and NYC in the near future when it comes to crime, criminals will see how easy it is to commit crime here compared to downstate and NYC. Then some of those criminals will go to jail here, then become our fellow local residents after they get out of jail. Nice job whoever is putting NYC people in jails in our area, which is the main reason crime is spreading north from NYC. Take a look at cities north of NYC that are getting worse, Yonkers, Newburgh, Albany and Schenectady, it's only a matter of time.

the blurry shoes look the same, I say he was scoping the place out then came back inside and robbed it. Tried to throw off the people by tucking in the shirt and zipping up the coat. yeah he came from work...another robbery

I clicked on the pic, and it did make it bigger, but not clearer. The way he's dressed, I might think he just came from working somewhere - black pants, black sneakers, red shirt.

Personally that's a stupid headline - of course they want to interview him, problem is they don't know who he is. By all means, run the picture every day for a week, but come up with another headline.
