AMSTERDAM - A city man faces third-degree robbery charges after an incident early Thursday at East Main and Voorhees streets.
Police said Christopher "Snoop" Alicea, 19, of 31 Elk St., Apartment 2, approached a woman and asked for a cigarette. After the woman told Alicea she didn't have one, police said Alicea grabbed the woman and yanked her cell phone from her hand. Police said the female tried to grab him to get the phone back, but Alicea responded by trying to punch her in the face before taking off with the phone.
Police found Alicea riding a bicycle on Route 5 near the Amsterdam Free Library, and he was found with the victim's cell phone, police said.
He was transported to police headquarters and was being held pending arraignment.
