In Brief
Johnstown budget hearing set tonight
JOHNSTOWN - The Common Council will conduct a public hearing on the city's tentative $10.1 million 2010 city budget, which calls for a 2.4 percent property tax-rate hike, at its meeting at 7 p.m. today at City Hall.
Mayor Sarah J. Slingerland said today her budget proposal remains intact, although the council can amend the budget further in coming weeks. The council last met Oct. 19, and city officials indicated staff cuts may be necessary if state aid is reduced.
The council also is expected to approve an ordinance amending the speed limit on Jansen Avenue and approve requests for qualifications for an administrator of a grant for Fage USA's yogurt plant.
