Robert D. Hoyt Sr.

Robert D. Hoyt Sr., age 80, of Johnstown, passed away on Thursday, November 5, 2009, at the Mountain Valley Hospice House following a long illness. He was born on April 11, 1929, in Gloversville. He was the son of the late Carl Hoyt and Marion Briggs Hoyt. Mr. Hoyt was employed as a leather worker for the former Independent Leather Co. and retired from the former Karg Bros. Tannery in Johnstown.

He was a member of the Bleecker Fish & Game Club.

Mr. Hoyt was united in marriage to Helen M. Herrick Hoyt on August 30, 1947, and she passed away on November 11, 2001.

Survivors include: four sons, Robert D. Hoyt Jr. (Phyllis) of Amsterdam, Ronald E. Hoyt (Marguerite) of Albany, Richard A. Hoyt (Judy) of Gloversville and Leo J. Hoyt (Betty) of Gloversville; four daughters, Judith A. Pettit of Gloversville, Karen S. Dick of Georgia, Jean M. Rote (Jack) of Perth and Tami L. Hill of Johnstown; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews and cousins.

In addition to his wife he was predeceased by: a son Francis C. Hoyt, a daughter Linda L. Pinckney, and a sister Marilyn Warner.

Funeral services will be conducted on Tuesday at 1 p.m. from the A.G. Cole Funeral Home, Inc. 215 E. Main St., Johnstown. The Dr. Rev. R. W. Williams will preside. Friends and family may call on Tuesday prior to the service from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Fonda. Memorial contributions may be made in his memory to Mountain Valley Hospice, 108 Steele Ave., Gloversville, New York 12078.
