Fulton County officials tallying election results
By ZACH SUBAR, The Leader-HeraldJOHNSTOWN - Fulton County election officials said Friday they have begun counting ballots in five Fulton County towns where voting machines faltered Tuesday.
County Board of Elections official Theresa Dugan said most ballots have been counted in Northampton, where there are contested supervisor and town council races.
The Board of Elections still needs to count less than 100 ballots from voters who did not fill in boxes all the way. A scanner cannot read those marks, which is why they need to be counted by hand.
As of now, incumbent Supervisor Linda Kemper, who is running as an independent, leads Northville Mayor James Groff 407-379. Town Councilman Guy Poulin, who asked his supporters to vote for Kemper, has 16 votes.
There also were 77 absentee ballots sent out in the town, and 56 have been returned.
It appears that two town council incumbents will remain on the board. Darryl Roosa and Robert Ellsworth have received 520 and 490 votes, respectively, and lead challenger Amanda Frasier Skotarczak has 336 votes.
Dugan said votes in two out of four Broadalbin districts have been counted. So far, George Walters leads town Councilman Joe DiGiacomo 311-238 in a race for supervisor.
Incumbent assessor Joe McDonald leads challenger Joy Canfield 359-183 in a race for one of three assessor positions.
Dugan said the leftover votes will be counted sometime within the next week. Absentee ballots will be counted Friday.

With the problems with the election machines, both Election Commissioners in Fulton county (Reisdorph and Schermerhorn) should be fired or forced to resign by the Board of Supervisors. Shows a total lack of planning and the problems on Election Day show the disorganization. The buck stops at the top and these two individuals should be replaced!

I hope whomever is elected as Supervisor of Northampton has the interests of the county as a top priority. As a resident of Northville I have always been disturbed by the local focus of our political representatives. Let's think about the impact of any decisions on the County rather than on our specific interets. As the village and town goes so goes we.

Looks good for Kemper, also good for Northampton. Groff sounds like a big tax-and-spender!

Everyone tells me this Walters dude is a load in the road, yet he's in the lead. Go elucidate. As far as hand-counting ballots goes, they better get used to it. These arcane electric machines are going to be nothing but trouble.
