BLEECKER - Three generations of Bleecker residents have been accused of running a drug, gun and cockfighting operation on the family compound.
State police, Fulton County District Attorney Louise K. Sira, the Humane Society of the United States and other officials outlined the charges at a news conference at state police barracks in Glen this morning.
Police said they seized 70 birds, $50,000 worth of street drugs, including 30 pounds of marijuana, guns, fighting spurs and other weapons.
Wayne D. Harvey, 61, is facing felony counts of breeding or selling animals to fight and criminal possession of marijuana for having 10 pounds. He also faces misdemeanor counts of unlawfully growing marijuana and criminal possession of a firearm.
He is in the Fulton County Jail on $60,000 bail. He and his family members were arrested Thursday morning at the family's property on County Highway 125.
His son, Wayne A. Harvey, faces a felony count of breeding or selling animals to fight, along with criminal possession of a weapon as a convicted felon. He also was charged with unlawful possession of marijuana.
He is in the Fulton County Jail on $10,000 bail.
Wayne A. Harvey's son, Wayne J. Harvey 19, is charged with unlawful possession of marijuana and criminal possession of a weapon for allegedly having brass knuckles. He was released on an appearance ticket.
Also charged in the alleged operation was Arthur J. Harvey, 65, the brother of Wayne D. Harvey. He was charged with unlawful possession of marijuana and criminal possession of a weapon as a convicted felon.
