William "Bill" Bowers, 71, of Ballston Lake, passed away Tuesday, September 18, 2012, at his residence after a brief illness. Born in Gloversville, in 1940, he was the son of the late Everett and Irma Bowers. Bill was a proud veteran of the U.S. Air Force and worked as a machinist for General Electric, retiring in 1996 after 30 years of service. Bill is survived by his loving wife of 33 years, Charlene J. Bowers; his children, Cory (Mike) Reid, Kim (Marty) Pfeiffenberger, Rick (Rebecca) Bowers, Kirk Jansen, Doug Goot, Mike Goot; his sister, Jane (Clayton) Sitterly; sisters-in-law, Luanne Balley, and Bea Bowers; his mother-in-law, Jane Willey; six grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother, David Bowers.
A service with full military honors will be held on Monday, September 24, at 1 p.m. at the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, 200 Duell Road, Schuylerville. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the William A. Wright Scholarship Fund, in care of JRTA, 137 Webb Road, Johnstown, NY 12095 or to Hospice of Saratoga, 179 Lawrence St., Saratoga Springs, NY 12866. Arrangements are by the Townley & Wheeler Funeral Home, Ballston Lake.
