Sylvia F. Lightcap, 67, of Gloversville, N.Y., passed away Wednesday, September 19, 2012, at the Mountain Valley Hospice House, Steele Avenue, Gloversville, after a long illness. She was born in Oneonta, N.Y., on October 1, 1944, a daughter of the late Everett Sr. and Leona Abbott Loucks. She attended Gloversville schools and was a lifelong area resident. She was a homemaker.
Sylvia is survived by five loving children, Robert Lightcap (Paige) of Johnstown, N.Y., Benjamin Merrit of California, Charles Richardson (Melissa) of Perth, N.Y., Mike Napel (Tanya) of Amsterdam N.Y., and Fay Winnie (Tom) of Gloversville; four brothers, Leroy Loucks of Gloversville, John Loucks (Kim) of North Carolina, Everett Loucks Jr. (Judy) of Gloversville, William Loucks (Patricia) of Johnstown; five sisters, Elaine Loucks of Gloversville, Priscilla Blood (Gary) of Gloversville, Inza O' Connor (Paul) of Gloversville, Dorothy Dingman (Bob) Gloversville and Rhoda Klingbeil (Earl) of Johnstown. She is also survived by several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her husband, William Lightcap; they were married in 1977 and he died in 1984; one son, James Bouchard; one brother, Burt C. Loucks; and one sister, Dorothea Loucks Jump.
The family will receive friends Tuesday, September 25, 2012, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the John W. Finocan Funeral Home Inc., 13 Prospect Ave., Gloversville. A graveside service will be conducted Wednesday at 11 a.m. at the Ferndale Cemetery, with Dr. R.W. Williams officiating.
