Gerard A. Tweer, age 85, of Mayfield, passed away on Thursday, September 20, 2012 after being stricken at home.
He was born on March 17, 1927, in Hackensack, New Jersey, a son of the late John Tweer and Marguerite Arnold Tweer. Gerard was a class of 1945 graduate of Johnstown High School and honorably served in his country in the U.S. Army. Mr. Tweer worked for many years in road construction with DeLia Construction of Utica. He was also an Equipment Designer for the company, which utilized many of his creations and innovations over the years.
Gerard enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was also a Model Train enthusiast and was a member of the former Adirondack and Southern Model Railroad Club in Gloversville.
On March 21, 1954, Gerard was united in marriage to Ramona E. Tomlinson Tweer, who passed on November 4, 2004.
Survivors include two daughters Kimberly Walker and her husband Mark of Greenwich and Linda Taylor of Apollo, Penn.; three grandchildren Nicole Walker, Kellie Walker and Sharyn Taylor, one sister Marguerite Avery, one sister-in-law Janet Davis of Gloversville and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to his wife and parents, Mr. Tweer was predeceased by two brothers John Tweer and Kenneth Tweer.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, September 24th at the A.G. Cole Funeral Home, Inc., 215 East Main Street, Johnstown with Rev. Chris Hamm officiating. Family and friends may call on Sunday, September 23rd from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
Interment will be in Fern Dale Cemetery, Johnstown with military honors.
