GLOVERSVILLE- City police said an Amsterdam man was arrested Tuesday for illegally collecting unemployment benefits totaling $3,060.
Antonio Hernandez, 24, of 65 Brookside Ave., Amsterdam, was arrested by the city police after an investigation was initiated by the New York State Department of Labor - Office of Special Investigations.
Police said investigators found that last year, while Hernandez was living at 15 Bloomingdale Ave., he falsified electronic state documents several times reporting he had not worked when he was working.

Hernandez was charged with one count each of third-degree grand larceny, a class D felony, and first-degree offering a false instrument for filing, a class E felony.
Hernandez was held for arraignment and then released on his own recognizance.
