Paul F. Ziegner Jr., age 85, passed away on Monday, October 1, 2012, at the Mountain Valley Hospice House. Mr. Ziegner was born January 27, 1927, in Gloversville, N.Y., the son of the late Paul F. and Theresa (nee Engel) Ziegner Sr. Mr. Ziegner was a lifelong resident and graduated from Gloversville High School in 1945. He served from 1945 to 1947 in the U.S. Army as a staff sergeant during World War II. He also worked for the U.S. government in Germany for several years during the U.S. Occupation of Germany. Paul worked as a foreman for 33 years at Wood & Hyde.
He married his wife, Karola (nee Ehrle) on December 22, 1952. He is survived by his wife, Karola; his sisters, Gerturde Jesmain and Dorothy Murphy; his niece, Elizabeth Jesmain; and nephew, Paul Murphy; and two grandnephews. Paul was of the Catholic faith and was a lifelong member of the Concordia Club.
The family will receive friends Thursday, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the John W. Finocan Funeral Home Inc., 13 Prospect Ave., Gloversville. A funeral service will be conducted at 9:30 a.m. Friday at the funeral home, with Dr. R.W. Williams officiating. Interment will take place in the Ferndale Cemetery, Johnstown, N.Y.
