Mr. Rosario "Roy" Giuliano, 94, formerly of Gloversville, passed away October 19, 2012, in Rochester, N.Y. Mr. Giuliano was born April 4, 1918, in Watervliet, N.Y. His family moved to Gloversville when he was an infant. He was educated in Gloversville schools and served in the U.S. Army from 1942-1946. "Roy" as he was known, had always been associated with and eventually self-employed at Clemente's Market on South Main St. in Gloversville. During his retirement years, he also worked part time at the former Holiday Theatre in Johnstown and the Emerald Theatre in Perth.
Always with a smile, Roy was a prankster and a teaser. He so enjoyed his family and many friendships, of all ages. He welcomed discussions on politics and world affairs. Perhaps his greatest joy was his family, especially his grandchildren, attending many of their school and social events. He moved to Rochester in 2005, residing with his daughter and her family.
Roy is survived by his children: Mary Fredlund (Randy) of Rochester, N.Y., Gregory Giuliano of Leominster, Mass., and Michael Giuliano of Silver Bay, Minn. He is also survived by one brother, the Reverend Michael D. Clemente of Scotia; two grandchildren, Katherine Fredlund and David Fredlund; several nieces and nephew and cousins. He was predeceased in 1970 by his wife, Helen Del Tufo, whom he married October 6, 1946. He was also predeceased by his siblings, Mary Aufiero, Theresa Gardiner, Mildred Brossoie, Theresa Cleveland, Esther Clemons, Angelo Clemente, Joseph Clemente, Salvatore Clemente, Albert Clemente and Frank Clemente.
A prayer service will be held 9:15 a.m. Thursday at Kobuskie-Konik Funeral Home, 51 Fremont St., Gloversville.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated 10 a.m. Thursday, October 25, 2012, at the Church of the Holy Spirit, 149 S. Main St., Gloversville, with Roy's brother, the Reverend Michael D. Clemente as celebrant, and con-celebrated by The Very Reverend Donald Czelusniak, pastor. The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
