Mrs. Edna Ruth Walters, age 93, of Gloversville, died Sunday, October 21, 2012, at Nathan Littauer Hospital following a long illness.
She was born February 28, 1919, in Gloversville, the daughter of the late Clarence and Roseanne Aldridge Simmons. She was employed by Coleco Industries at several of its locations for many years.
Mrs. Walters was a member of Fulmont Community Church. She loved her church and her family. She also enjoyed baking, especially pies.
Edna was married to Christian A. Walters, who died in1959.
She is survived by: three children, Linda S. Osborne (Paul), Richard Walters (Darlene) and Sharon Young, all of Gloversville; a sister, Dorothy D'Ambrosi of Fultonville; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Edna was predeceased by five children, Barbara Simonds, Edward Walters, Donald Walters and infants Patricia and Betty Jane Walters; her sister, Mildred Simmons; and a brother, Robert Simmons.
The family will receive relatives and friends from 10 a.m. to noon Friday, October 26, at Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, 51 Fremont St., Gloversville, where a funeral service will follow at noon. Interment will take place at Prospect Hill Cemetery, Gloversville. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, 440 New Karner Road, Albany N.Y. 12205, or to the American Cancer Society, 260 Osborne Road, Loudonville, N.Y. 12211.
