Stanley R. Brower, 80, of Pearl Street, Gloversville, died Sunday, October 28, 2012, at home following a long illness. He was born in Gloversville, N.Y. on July 11, 1932, the son of the late Nathan and Vera Harris Brower. He was employed as a machinist by General Electric in Schenectady until his retirement.
On August 15, 1953, he married Darlene Kibler and together they celebrated over 59 years of marriage.
He was a member of the North Main Street United Methodist Church. A former Trustee of the church and a member of the men's work group.
Survivors include his wife, Darlene Brower of Gloversville; his son, Mark Brower of Johnstown; one granddaughter, Caliope Brower; brother-in-law, Gordon (Nancy) Kibler; sisters-in-law, Ella Long and Beth (David) Szatmary. Several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive him. He was predeceased by his two brothers, Donald and Richard Brower.
Friends may call on Thursday, November 1, 2012, at the Gloversville Funeral Home, 4 Second Ave., from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. where a funeral service will be held at 1 p.m., with Rev. Christopher Hamm officiating. Burial will be in Prospect Hill Cemetery, Gloversville. Memorial contributions may be made to the N. Main Methodist Church, 316 N. Main Street, Gloversville, NY or to Mountain Valley Hospice, 108 Steele Ave., Gloversville, NY.
