Robert E. Meredith

Robert E. Meredith, 48, of Caroga Lake, N.Y., passed away after a long courageous battle with leukemia, on Sunday night, October 28, 2012, at Ellis Hospital in Schenectady, N.Y. At the time of his passing he had the love and care of his family by his side.

Robert was born on November 8, 1963, in Syracuse, N.Y., a son of John and Sharon (Weaver) Meredith. In 1987, Robert moved to Caroga Lake, where he enjoyed living on the water. He was formerly employed by Burger King as a manager and for many years at various truck-driving jobs. More recently, Robert was as a truck driver for Marck Recycling in Johnstown, N.Y., for several years until the onset of his illness. He was an active member of the Caroga Lake Volunteer Fire Department since 1987.

Living on the lake, Robert enjoyed boating, fishing, tubing and spending time with his family and friends. He also enjoyed being a member of the fire department. Robert will be greatly missed by all that knew him.

Robert is survived by his wife, Angela Meredith; his son, Nicholas Meredith and his wife, Amanda; his daughter, Amanda Meredith and her companion, Todd Rorick; his cherished grandchildren, Tanner and Riley, all of Caroga Lake; his mother, Sharon Salter, and his stepfather, James Salter of Syracuse; his sisters, Melinda Meredith and Carol Shay; stepfather, Don Steinback; brothers and sisters in-law; aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was predeceased by his father, John Meredith.

Relatives and friends are invited to a celebration of Robert's life that will be held on Saturday, November 3, 2012, from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Caroga Lake Volunteer Fire Company, 1785 State Highway 10, Caroga Lake, NY, where memories will be shared. Arrangements are with Miller-Plonka Funeral Home, 30 Wolf Street, Dolgeville, New York.
