JOHNSTOWN?- The Women Democrats met Nov. 10 to celebrate their fifth anniversary as an organization. The group was formed as an adjunct to the Elizabeth Cady Stanton Women's Consortium.
All people in the Fulton County area who support the principles, platforms and candidates of the Democratic Party are welcome to join, regardless of party registration.
A new slate of officers was presented by Elizabeth Russo and voted upon. The chairwoman is Susan Taylor. Marianne Milton is the new vice chairwoman. Bonnie Dostal is the treasurer, assisted by Pat Bender. Marianne Evans is secretary, and Anna Brooks remains corresponding secretary.
Beverly Ayles will serve as representative to the Women's Consortium.
During this election cycle, the Women Democrats sponsored candidates nights, displayed signs and contributed funds to Democratic candidates.
Plans were made to ring bells for the Salvation Army on Dec. 14. In addition, the group is soliciting monetary contributions to support Christmas shopping for a needy family of six.
A gift wrapping party will be scheduled in the near future. New members are welcome to participate and can get information on membership by calling Brooks at 725-2855.
