Rowena A. Perrone, age 90, of Johnstown, passed away peacefully into Heaven on Thursday, November 29, 2012, at Nathan Littauer Hospital, Gloversville, after a short illness. She had been a resident at Wells Nursing Home, Johnstown, for the past year and a half.
Rowena was born on February 18, 1922, in Schenectady, a daughter of the late James Teller and Freida Kelly Teller.
On April 5, 1942, Rowena married Robert A. Perrone, who passed away on July 17, 2012. She stayed home with the kids and kept the household together while Bob worked on having his own leather business. Working together, they established the Westbrook Glove Company. Bob was president and Rowe was vice-president. Rowena was a kind, loving and humerous woman who will be greatly missed.
Mrs. Perrone is survived by her two daughters Karen Dixon and Debra Skinner, both of Johnstown, her son Robert Perrone of Virginia Beach, Virginia and six grandchildren: Michael Ambrosino, Amy Ambrosino, Alex Perrone, Leilani Perrone-Skinner, Jesse Perrone and Christopher Perrone.
She was predeceased by her two sisters, Betty Marra and Alfreda Palumbo and one brother, Calvin Teller.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. on Monday, December 3 at the A.G. Cole Funeral Home, Inc., 215 East Main Street, Johnstown, with Pastor Philip W. Carey officiating. There will be no calling hours as per Rowena's wishes.
Interment will be in Fern Dale Cemetery, Johnstown.
