Many helped with trip

December 5, 2012
The Leader Herald

On behalf of the English and Social Studies departments of Gloversville High School, we would like to take this opportunity to thank Mr. Mark Finkle, Mr. Richard Samrov, and all of those associated with the Glove Performing Arts Center, for allowing more than 900 of our students to attend the productions of "In Darfur" on Nov. 15 and 16. We would also like to extend our gratitude to the actors for all of their hard work and dedication.

For some students it was their first chance to see a live play, and for many more it was their first opportunity to set foot inside the historic Glove to see the restoration work that has been done.

We would also like to thank: Mr. Terry Kersting and all those who helped with the transportation of our students; to the Gloversville Police Department for monitoring traffic as our students boarded and exited the buses; and to Teal Carpenter and the cafeteria staff for providing bagged lunches for the students.

Finally, we thank Principal Richard Demallie and his secretary, Sandy Sacerio, Vice Principal Mark Batty and his secretary, Carol Rockefeller, Joann Samrov, attendance secretary, faculty and staff chaperones, the Guidance Department and all others involved in helping make the field trip a reality.

We sincerely thank all of you. It was a memorable event for all involved.

STEPHANIE ALAM and LEN MARTIN

English and Social Studies department chairs (respectively), Gloversville High School
