Mary Johnson Roberts of Johnstown, N.Y., left on the morning of Dec. 13, 2012, to be with Jesus and the wonderful people who have departed before her. She resided at the Wells House Nursing Home. She was born Sept. 28, 1919, in Danby, Vt., the daughter of Albert and Pauline Baker Duross.
She was first united in marriage to John "Sonny" Johnson, who died Sept. 24, 1967. In 1969, she married Walter Roberts, and he died in 1994. Mrs. Roberts graduated from Johnstown High School and from 1954 to 2012, was a district manager for Stanley Home Products. She was a member of Foothills United Methodist Church and was a member and past president of the Johnstown Senior Citizens. She lived an amazing out-loud 93 years touching lives from beginning to end. She sprinkled grace, kindness and sunshine to everyone she came in contact with. She had a deep love of her friends and family, Stanley Home Products, and her church.
She traveled all over the country with Stanley, with her favorite earned trips being Las Vegas and San Juan, Puerto Rico. She was a jokester with a great sense of humor always looking to get a smile or even better, a laugh. Mary will be greatly missed.
She is survived by her sons, Larry (Barbara) Johnson and Gerald A. Johnson, both of Gloversville; a stepdaughter, Lorelie Sloan of Rhinebeck, N.Y.; and her daughter-in-law, Brenda Johnson of Florida. Mrs. Johnson is survived by her grandchildren, Rhett Johnson, Senee Johnson, Steve Chatterton, Dian Baker, Judith Hunhold, Ernie Johnson, Victoria Morgan, Larry Johnson, Amy (Josh Lewis) Johnson-Lewis and Rebecca Johnson. She has seventeen great-grandchildren and nine great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. She is survived by a brother, Donald Duross; and two sisters, Iona Farrar and Ella Mae Oxford, all of Johnstown. She was predeceased by a son, Ronald Johnson, and her brothers, George and Richard Duross.
Friends may call from noon to 2 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 17, at the Ehle Funeral Home, where a funeral service will immediately follow at 2 p.m. Interment will be in Ferndale Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Johnstown Senior Center or Wells House Nursing Home.
