Frederick E. Pollard, 76, of Stratford, New York, passed away on Friday morning, December 14, 2012, at St. Mary's Hospital in Amsterdam, New York, with the love and care of his family surrounding him.
Fred was born on September 18, 1936, a son of the late, Archie and Theresa (Daley) Pollard in Stratford, New York. He was a graduate of Stratford Central School and graduated with the Class of 1955.
On July 24, 1976, Fred was united in marriage to Barbara Flansburg at their home in Stratford, New York. They shared a loving union of 36 years this past summer.
For 28 years, Fred was employed at Johnstown Knitting Mill in the maintenance department and retired in 2000. He is of the Methodist faith.
Among Mr. Pollard's greatest accomplishments was his service as the town justice for the town of Stratford for over 34 years. He received the Fulton Montgomery Magistrate's Association, Magistrate of the Year Award.
Fred was a member of the State Magistrate's Association, Fulton Montgomery Magistrate's Association, Stratford Volunteer Fire Department, East Canada Creek Fish and Game Club, Johnstown Moose Club, the Moose Creek Lodge, and a former member of the Sprite Club. In his spare time, he enjoyed camping, fishing, hunting, campfire singing and guitar playing. His most precious time was that spent with his wife, children, grandchildren and family. Fred will be greatly missed by his family, friends and all who knew him.
Fred is survived by: his beloved wife, Barbara Pollard at home; his sons, William Pollard and his wife, Cindy of Stratford, N.Y., Richard Pollard of Michigan, John Kadaraitis and his wife, Lisa of Antwerp, N.Y.; his daughters, Tracy Barton and her husband, Kevin of Dolgeville, N.Y., and Darcy Ellis and her husband, Dave of Dolgeville, N.Y.; grandchildren, Amy, Mark, Erica, Brenda, Jared, Andrew, Kayla, Stephanie, Cory, Chad, Katie, Keoni, Kevin, Jr., Ryan, Crystal; great-grandchildren, Mark, Emily, Madison, Daryn, and Caleb; a sister, Diane Miller of MN; special friends, Dick and Vonie Farquhar; several nieces, nephews, brothers and sisters in law.
He was predeceased by his siblings, Archie (Dutch) Pollard, Earl Pollard, Harold Pollard, Robert Pollard and Beverly Randall.
Calling hours will be held on Sunday, December 16, 2012, from 2 to 5 p.m. at Miller-Plonka Funeral Home, 30 Wolf Street, Dolgeville, New York 13329. A funeral service will be held on Monday, December 17, 2012, at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Alan Griffith. Burial will follow in Stratford Cemetery.
The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses and staff of St. Mary's Hospital in Amsterdam for their kindness, compassion and care for Fred and their family during his stay with them.
