Eleanor J. Dwyer, age 87, of Johnstown passed away on Wednesday December 19, 2012, at St. Mary's Hospital, Amsterdam, after a brief illness.
She was born on December 23, 1924, in Gloversville, a daughter of the late Eugene and Ruth Ortell Brundige.
She was a member of the Holy Trinity Church of Johnstown.
Eleanor was employed at the former Central Market and was last employed at O'Connor's Tavern in Johnstown until her retirement.
On March 19, 1945, she was united in marriage to Charles A. Dwyer, and he died on February 23, 2007.
Survivors include two sons, Charles T. (Pat) Dwyer of Gloversville and Michael J. Dwyer of Johnstown; three daughters, Patricia (Tom) Valachovic, Linda (Rick) Rohrs and Marilyn Wolfe, all of Johnstown; one brother, Terry Brundige of Amsterdam; one sister, Beverly Paul of Gloversville; eleven grandchildren; and 13 great- grandchildren; and nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by three brothers John, Denny and Freddie Brundrige; two sisters, Jacqueline Burdick and Georgiana Dwyer; and a daughter-in-law, Susan Dwyer.
A memorial service will be conducted on Thursday, December 27, 2012, at 11:00 a.m. at the Barter & Donnan Funeral Home, 1 N. Melcher Street, Johnstown.
Visitation for family and friends will be on Wednesday, December 26, 2012, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
Cremation was at Vale Crematory, Schenectady.
