CANAJOHARIE - The following are the events for the Arkell Center for January 2013.
Each Monday through Friday:
The noon meals are provided by the Meals of Montgomery Program. Reservations are required by noon of the previous day. Call 673-2000 or 843-2300. The suggested donation is $3 for those ages 60 or older.
The walking program has begun for any senior who wants an indoor place to walk in the winter, from 10 a.m. to noon at the Arkell Center.
Each Wednesday from 3 to 4 p.m. is gentle yoga with an instructor.
NOTE: The Arkell Center and the Meals of Montgomery County Program will be closed Jan. 1 for New Year's Day.
On Thursday, and Jan.17, from 2 to 4 p.m. is the Second Time Around Big Band practice.
On Jan. 9, 16, 23 and 30, at 12:45 p.m., is the public card party. The donation will be $2. Prizes and refreshments will be available.
On Jan. 10 at 1 p.m., the Second Time Around Big Band will perform a Christmas-New Year's special.
On Jan. 11 at 12:30 p.m., the Canajoharie Senior Citizens Club will have its annual Christmas luncheon. Donations will be collected in lieu of a gift exchange this year.
On Jan. 24 from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., a blood pressure clinic will be conducted by the Home Health Care Partners Corp., co-sponsored by St. Mary's and Nathan Littauer hospitals. The Home Health Care Partners Corp. also provides health and wellness information.
On Jan. 22, from 2 to 3 p.m., Alzheimer's and Dementia Caregivers Support Group will meet with Lisa Hubbard, sponsored by the Alzheimer's Association of Northeastern New York.
On Jan. 25 at 1 p.m., the Canajoharie Senior Citizens will meet.
