To all who have told me over the years there's nothing positive in the paper, read this.
At 12:30 p.m. Dec. 30, I was working out on the treadmill at the Fulton County YMCA. I later learned I went into cardiac arrest, hit my head three times on the machine and lay clinically "dead" for a couple minutes. While this was happening, though, desk attendant Susan Ives gave me CPR and I came back. Simultaneously, others shocked me back into existence with the Y's defibrillator. I was saved.
Words cannot describe how thankful I am for people such as the quick thinking of Ms. Ives. I hope the YMCA rewards her. I was taken to Nathan Littauer Hospital by a wonderful JAVAC staff and taken by the Ambulance Service of Fulton County to Ellis Hospital. I had my own defibrillator put in and I'm recovering.
I have always been proud to live and work in my adopted home - Fulton County. But today, I'm humbled and especially proud to be alive in Fulton County, where outstanding and caring people continue to inspire me as I move forward in my life.
