Levi Pascher's article published Sunday on some historic photos of Fulton County is quite interesting. While some of the pictures are clearly from the late 19th century, there are apparently some that were taken as recently as the 1950s. For example, the picture of students in a classroom is no earlier than 1922 (the year in which Fire Prevention Week, noted in the sign on the wall, was first observed).
But judging from the girls' hairstyles and dresses, I'd place this picture quite a bit later than the '20s, perhaps as recent as the mid-1950s. Many professionals, particularly press photographers, were still using glass plates during the 1950s.
I'm sure that some readers of The Leader-Herald will recognize themselves, family or friends in these pictures like the one of the classroom.
