Boys Basketball Roundup: Cougars slip past Hilltoppers, 46-45

FORT PLAIN - Josh Gonzalez hit a free throw with 21 seconds remaining to provide the winning margin as Canajoharie edged Fort Plain, 46-45, in a Western Athletic Conference North Division boys basketball game Tuesday.

The Cougars trailed 17-9 after one quarter before outscoring the Hilltoppers 18-8 in the second quarter to take a 27-25 halftime lead.

Zach Bowerman scored 16 points to lead Canajoharie (11-2 overall, 8-1 WAC North), which has won eight straight games and 10 of its last 11.

Dillan Veeder added 12 points for the Cougars.

Jake Sardina scored 12 points to lead Fort Plain (7-5 overall, 5-4 WAC North), which has lost three of its last four contests.
