Marlin L. Wilson Sr., 77, of Mayfield, N.Y., passed away on Friday, January 18, 2013, at the Mountain Valley Hospice House in Gloversville, N.Y. He was born in Mayfield, N.Y., on August 8, 1935, and was the son of Lester H. and Ina Malone Kent Wilson.
He was a graduate of Mayfield High School and afterward served in the United States Air Force for 11 years and was stationed in Bitburgh, Germany; Tunisia, North Africa; and Davis Mohnton Air Base in Tuscan, Ariz. He was the owner and operator of Jid's Suzuki and Wilsons Used Cars in Mayfield for many years.
He was a 20-year member of the White Tail Deer Club of Bleecker, N.Y., and enjoyed hunting, fishing, bowling, golfing and gardening. He especially loved to grow his roses. He was a diehard Yankee and Dallas fan. He loved to spend time with his grandchildren and his many dog companions.
Survivors include daughter, Robin (Bob) Loske; his son, Marlin (Nikki) Wilson Jr.; daughter, Dawn Moore; stepson, Michael (Patty) Rhodes; brother, Willard (Donna) Wilson; twelve grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his wife, Lorraine "Bummy" Rhodes Wilson, on September 2, 2012, and his brothers, Burton and Kenneth Wilson.
