Dorothy Ernst Cosselman

Mrs. Dorothy Amelia Rose Ernst Cosselman, age 89, passed away peacefully with her family at her side January 27, 2013, at Nathan Littauer Hospital Nursing Home. She was a lifelong resident of Bleecker Stage.

She was born April 15, 1923, in the town of Johnstown to George and Jessie Smullens Ernst.

She graduated from Gloversville High School in 1939.

Dorothy married Vernon Cosselman on August 10, 1946. He predeceased her June 2, 2002.

She worked in the office at several companies including: General Electric in Schenectady during World War II; Albano Glove Company and Fownes Gloves of Gloversville; Crescendo Superb Gloves of Johnstown; the Factory Outlet and Jamesway.

Dorothy was a loving mother and grandmother. She enjoyed baking, crocheting and was a member of the SPCA. She loved her dogs and her cat, Tiger. She had a wonderful sense of humor.

She was predeceased by her parents, her husband, and her brother and sisters, Melvin Ernst, Muriel Robinson, Marion Robinson, Ruth Ecker and Beatrice O'Donnell.

Dorothy is survived by: four children, Vicki Cosselman of Johnstown, Vernon George Cosselman (Linda), David Floyd Cosselman and Paul Allen Cosselman (Jami) all of Bleecker; 13 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

The family will receive relatives and friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, January 30, at Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, 51 Fremont St., Gloversville, where a funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, with the Rev. Dr. R.W. Williams officiating. Interment will take place at Ferndale Cemetery, Johnstown.

Memorial contributions may be made in lieu of flowers to the James A. Brennan Memorial Humane Society, 437 Nine Mile Tree Road, Gloversville, NY 12078.
