JOHNSTOWN - A 33-year-old man faces several charges including driving while intoxicated after fleeing into a wooded area during a traffic stop Thursday, city police said.

Shawn D. Henderson, of 196 Sacandaga Road, was charged with driving while intoxicated, first-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, reckless driving, failure to comply, speeding, failing to stop at a stop sign and nine other vehicle and traffic charges.

Police said they attempted to stop Henderson after seeing him fail to stop for a stop sign.

During the stop, police said he left the city and headed to LaGrange Road where he stopped and exited the car before running into a wooded area. He was located and arrested, police said.

He was held pending arraignment.
