GLOVERSVILLE - City police said a man was arrested for driving while intoxicated after the report of a hit-and-run accident where he struck another vehicle.
John E. Brockhum, 53, of 1 Mill St., was arrested by city police Friday and charged with felony driving while intoxicated, leaving the scene of a property damage automobile accident and following too closely.
Police said the department responded to the report of a hit-and-run accident. On arrival at the scene, police said, officers were provided with the license plate of the vehicle that caused the accident by striking another vehicle and leaving the scene.
Based on the license plate number provided, police said, officers were able to locate the driver and vehicle a short time later. When officer's located the vehicle, they were able to identify the driver of the vehicle as John E. Brockhum.
Police said Brockhum was found to be under the influence of alcohol and was arrested for driving while intoxicated.
It was later determined that Brockhum had a previous conviction in 2003 for felony DWI in Fulton County Court, police said, and as a result was charged with felony DWI in this case.
He was arraigned in City Court before Judge Traci DiMezza and was released on his own recognizance.
