Montgomery County women face charges after investigation

MOHAWK - The Montgomery County Department of Social Services' welfare fraud investigation unit announced Monday five people were charged with various crimes.

Those charged included:

Ericka M. Reali, 35, of 123 Florida Ave., Amsterdam, was charged with one count of first-degree offering a false instrument for filing, a felony, after she allegedly filed false job search documents.

Jayde Hoffman, 36, of 32 Main St., Fultonville, was charged with two counts of fourth-degree welfare fraud, a felony, and three counts of first-degree offering a false instrument for filing, a felony.

Hoffman allegedly failed to disclose her household income and falsified information on Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program and Medicaid applications. She received more than $1,400 in SNAP and more than $2,000, along with an additional $850, in Medicaid assistance, a news release said.

Kacia A. Kuntzsch, 22, of 285 Klock Road, St. Johnsville, was charged with one count of fourth-degree welfare fraud. She allegedly failed to report she was working and received more than $2,000 in Medicaid benefits she was not entitled to.

Milagros Miranda, 48, of 212 Division St., Amsterdam, was charged with one count of first-degree offering a false instrument for filing, a felony, after she allegedly submitted a false medical report to employment.

Michelle Abatecola, 40, of 68 Elizabeth St., Apartment 2, Amsterdam, was allegedly charged with one count of first-degree offering a false instrument for filing, a felony, after she allegedly submitted false job search documents.

All five are expected to return to Town Court today at 5 p.m.

The investigative unit announced the charges in conjunction with the county District Attorney's Office, the county Sheriff's Office and Amsterdam police, the release said.
