H.S. Track Roundup: Gloversville hosts Foothills Council meet

GLOVERSVILLE - The Gloversville track and field teams earned a split with Broadalbin-Perth and Scotia-Glenville in double dual meet action Tuesday at Park Terrace Elementary School.

The Gloversville boys defeated Broadalbin-Perth 98.33-84.66 and fell to Scotia-Glenville 109.5-70.5.

Scotia-Glenville got past the B-P boys 105.5-76.5.

On the girls side, Gloversville defeated Scotia-Glenville 88-85 and fell to Broadalbin-Perth 103-80. Broadalbin-Perth finished a sweep of the girls meet with a 95-87 victory over Scotia-Glenville.

John Knox III was a double winner for Gloversville in the meet, while Pierre LaPort and Mackenzie Ottati posted double individual victories for Broadalbin-Perth.

Knox hit the line first in the 1,600-meter run in a time of 4:40.9 and the 3,200-meter run in 10:16.9.

LaPort topped the field in the shot put (40-06) and discus (116-0).

Ottati won the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 1:15.10 and the high jump, clearing the bar at 4-8.

Also winning for Gloversville was Adam Sleezer in the 800-meter run in 2:13.8; Chanel Thomas won the girls 100-meter dash in 13.5; Hayley Ferrara won the girls pole vault, clearing the bar at 7 feet, while Brianna Port won the long jump with a leap of 14-10.

For Broadalbin-Perth, Allison Lysiak won the discus with a toss of 84-04, while Anna Smith won the shot put with a throw of 33-01 and Henry Caughey topped the field in the 200-meter dash with his time of 24.20.

Scotia-Glenville's Eric Denny picked up four individual victories, winning the 110-meter hurdles, 400-meter hurdles, high jump and long jump.

"All of our athletes did really well today and we had a lot of great performances," Gloversville coach Steve Wendt said. "We would also like to thank all parents and helpers for assisting with the meet today. It's just another example of what a great community we live in, and how everyone is extremely supportive when it comes to our children."

Center State Conference

Ilion sweeps Dolgeville

ILION - The Dolgeville boys and girls track and field teams both lost to Ilion in a Center State Conference meet Monday.

The boys dropped a 94-39 decision, while the girls lost 99-41.

In the boys meet, Sam Greenfield (110 hurdles, 400 hurdles, pole vault) won three events for Ilion, while Michael Johnson (100 meters, 200 meters), Travis Mead (high jump, discus) and Stephen Paddock (1,600, 3,200) all won two events.

Bob Paddock (800), Tyler Brown (400) and Jon Hoover (shot put) also won for the Golden Bombers, who won the 400 and 3,200 relays as well.

Devin Bullock won the long jump and triple jump for Dolgeville, which also won the 1,600 relay.

In the girls meet, Ilion won 11 of 17 events on its way to the victory.

Elizabeth Belfast won the 100 and 200 meters for Ilion, while Sadie Lincourt (3,200 meters), Mackenzie Stubley (long jump), Teigha Ward (triple jump), Amanda Whittaker (pole vault), Alexis Edwards (shot put), Mikayla Dihrberg (discus) and Paige Manley (100 hurdles) also posted wins.

Ilion also won the 400 and 3,200 relays.

Ashley Mettler won the 800 and 1,500 meters for Dolgeville, while Emilie Lewandowski (400), Katie Millard (400 hurdles) and Joslin Cole-Null (high jump) also posted wins.

Dolgeville also won the 1,600 relay.
