H.S. Baseball Roundup: Bulldogs outslug Huskies, 12-11

SOUTH GLENS FALLS - Nick Hutchins smacked a two-out bases-loaded hit down the right field line to score Robert Olsen, leading South Glens Falls to a 12-11 win over Gloversville in a Foothills Council baseball game Friday.

The Huskies grabbed a 5-0 lead after their half of the first only to have South Glens Falls answer with six runs in the bottom of the first.

After scoring five times in the top of the third, the Huskies led 11-7 before the Bulldogs scored three in the sixth and two in the seventh to earn the win.

Josh Hay was 3-for-3 with a double and two runs scored for South Glens Falls (5-4 overall, 2-2 Foothills), while Stephen Hubinsky was 3-for-4 with three runs scored. Robert Olsen was 2-for-4 with a double for the Bulldogs.

Chris Rockefeller was 3-for-5 with two triples for Gloversville (3-3 overall, 1-3 Foothills), while David Vandenabeele was 2-for-3 with two doubles.

Gloversville is scheduled to host its annual tournament today.

The Huskies will face Broadalbin-Perth in the first round at 11 a.m., while Fonda-Fultonville will host Schuylerville at 11 a.m. in the other first-round contest.

The consolation game is slated for 2 p.m. at Husky Field, while the championship game will take place at Husky Field at 5 p.m.

Fonda-Fultonville 15, Cobleskill 3

FONDA - Anthony Sinicropi and Pat Hart each went 3-for-4 to lead Fonda-Fultonville to a win over Cobleskill-Richmondville.

Sinicropi also had two RBIs, while Hart had a double and an RBI.

Brandon Baker had a single, double and an RBI for FFCS (3-1 overall, 3-1 Colonial), while Kevin Myers and Baylee Hall each had two singles.

Dan Valachovic had a double and an RBI for the Braves, while Zack Valachovic had a single and three RBIs. Rob O'Kosky added a single and two RBIs for FFCS.

Seth Billington, Nick Bird, David Himme and Warren Mall all had singles for Cobleskill-Richmondville (0-6 overall, 0-5 Colonial).

MAYFIELD - Dylan Klock pitched a two-hitter to lead St. Johnsville to a Western Athletic Conference win over Mayfield in a game shortened to six innings by darkness.

Klock struck out 12 in six innings for the Saints.

Alex Hart had two singles and an RBI for St. Johnsville (2-3 overall, 1-2 WAC), while Dylan Klock had a double and a single.

John Vicciarelli, Payten Johnson, Brandon Campione, Alex Hart and Brad Smith all had singles for the Saints.

Matt Messina allowed six runs on seven hits for Mayfield. He also walked three and struck out two.

Messina and Alex Charbonneau had singles for the Panthers (2-4 overall, 2-3 WAC).

Mayfield is scheduled to host Fort Plain today at 11 a.m.

CANAJOHARIE - The Cougars exploded for five runs in the third inning to spark Friday's Western Athletic Conference victory over the Knights.

Zach Bowerman went 2-for-2 on the day with a double, while Kyle McLaughlin and Zach Ouderkirk were 2-for-3 on the day.

Canajoharie (3-2 overall, 3-2 WAC) is scheduled to host Little Falls in a non-league game today at 11:30 a.m.

AMSTERDAM - Troy scored four runs in the top of the seventh to earn a win over Amsterdam.

Kolbie Glionna had a double for the Rams (5-3 overall, 4-2 Big 10).

Amsterdam is scheduled to travel to Christian Brothers Academy on Monday.
