Housing development moving ahead

April 22, 2013
By ARTHUR CLEVELAND , The Leader Herald

MAYFIELD - The Town Board set a pay rate for the clerk of the works for a development at Paradise Point last week.

Town Supervisor Richard Argotsinger said Aaron Howland will be the clerk of the works on the Lakeview Apartments and will be paid $20 per hour.

Argotsinger said the salary will be paid by the developer, Paradise Point Development Corp.

The housing project at the former site of the Jewish Community Center's day camp will sit on 26 acres and include a 1,000-foot-long beach and 24 boat slips. It will provide homes for 20 people in six buildings.

Paradise Point Development Corp. President David Huckans purchased the 26 acres in 2007.

Argotsinger said Huckans will build the infrastructure for sewer treatment, pipes and drains, and the town will manage the sewage operation.

Argotsinger said there will be no cost to the town.

Argotsinger said the clerk of the works will make sure everything is built as intended.

Argotsinger said the project would begin once all the permits have been approved. Argotsinger said the developer is waiting for state Department of Health approval.

Huckans last month said he also needs approval from the state Department of Environmental Conservation.

After that, he will need a building permit from the town, Huckans said.
