Rita Ellen (McEvoy) Vosburgh, age 88, of Johnstown, passed away on Thursday, April 25, 2013, at the Nathan Littauer Hospital Nursing Home, Gloversville.
She was born on February 3, 1925, in Gloversville, the only child of the late William McEvoy and Harriet Olanie McEvoy Brown.
Mrs. Vosburgh graduated from Johnstown High School in 1942, then attended Gloversville Business School. She was employed in the Intelligence Department of the Scotia Navy Depot, then worked for over 30 years for the Fulton County Board of Elections as election inspector for Ward 1. Rita was of the Catholic faith, a communicant and a Rosary Society member of St. Patrick's Church in Johnstown. Mrs. Vosburgh was also a former member of the Johnstown Senior Citizens Center.
On July 14, 1946, Rita was united in marriage to Everson L. Vosburgh, who passed on August 21, 1991.
Survivors include two daughters, Sandra V. Fish of Gloversville and Suzanne M. Richichi of Milwaukee, Wisconsin; one granddaughter and three grandsons; two great-granddaughters and three great-grandsons; and three cousins.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Monday, April 29, at Holy Trinity Church, Glebe Street, Johnstown. The Rev. Joseph Barker will be the celebrant.
Visitation for family and friends will be on Sunday, April 28, from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Barter & Donnan Funeral Home, 1 N. Melcher Street, Johnstown.
Interment will be in St. Patrick's Cemetery, Johnstown.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Rita's memory to the American Heart Association, 440 New Karner Road, Albany, NY 12205 or to the charity of one's choice.
