BROADALBIN - Local writer Greg Hitchcock will host a book-signing party and fundraiser at the American Legion, 19 N. Main St., from 2 to 4 p.m. May 4.
Hitchcock, a former reporter with The Leader-Herald, is the author of "Schizophrenia in the Army," a memoir about his experiences as a young man in the military dealing with mental illness.
"The book is a personal journey of a mentally ill soldier and his efforts at recovering from his paranoid schizophrenia,"?according to a description from Chipmunka Publishing, which released the book earlier this year. "After years of soul-searching, Greg finally finds himself by going back to his roots and doing what he loves best - writing."
Greg Hitchcock, author of “Schizophrenia in the Army,”?will sign copies of the book at an event May 4 at the American Legion in Broadalbin.
The proceeds from the sales of his books going to Veterans Housing, Employment & Lifeskills Programs, a nonprofit organization whose mission is to end veteran homelessness, according to a news release.
In addition, gift certificates donated by local businesses will be raffled off in support of the cause. Food, beer and soda will be available during the event. Guests are welcome to bring a dish to share.
