H.S. Baseball Roundup: Gloversville cruises past Hudson Falls in Foothills Council contest, 9-3

GLOVERSVILLE - Justin Putnam had a triple and two RBIs to help Gloversville to a 9-3 win over Hudson Falls in a Foothills Council baseball game at Husky Field on Tuesday.

Kevin Johnston added a single and two RBIs for the Huskies, while David Vandenabeele was 2-for-3 with two runs scored.

Ben VanNostrand had a double and an RBI for Gloversville (5-6 overall, 3-4 Foothills), while Mike Fancher and Kyle Casimiro each had a single and an RBI for Gloversville. Chris Rockefeller added a triple for the Huskies, while Anthony Oathout and Mike Murray each had singles.

Rockefeller and Oathout combined on a four-hitter for Gloversville with Rockefeller picking up the win.

Caleb Stevens had a single and two RBIs for Hudson Falls (1-6 Foothills), while Jordan Williams added a double. James Scally and Pete Muratorri also had hits for the Tigers.

Gloversville will travel to?Hudson?Falls today for a 4:30 p.m. contest.

ST. JOHNSVILLE - Kyle Smith pitched a two-hitter to lead St. Johnsville to a Western Athletic Conference win over Sharon Springs.

Dylan Klock, Alex Hart and Brandon Campione all had doubles for St. Johnsville (4-6, 5-6).

Nick Barton had a double for Sharon Springs.

SARATOGA SPRINGS - J.R. Hmura had four RBIs to power Saratoga Central Catholic to a Western Athletic Conference win over Berne-Knox-Westerlo.

Liam Gibney had three RBIs and four runs scored for the Saints (9-1 overall, 8-0 WAC), who scored 15 runs in the sixth inning to seal the win.

Berne-Knox-Westerlo slipped to 3-9 overall and 3-7 in WAC play with the loss.

SCOTIA - Drew Fureno had a single, double, two stolen bases and three RBIs to lead Fort Plain to a non-league win over Mekeel Christian Academy.

Marcus Failing added a triple and an RBI for the Hilltoppers (10-0 overall, 9-0 WAC), while Joey Ray had a single and an RBI.

Chris Hanifin earned the win on the mound, striking out eight and walking none in seven innings of work.

Tyler Guido had two hits for Mekeel Christian.
