WASHINGTON - U.S. Rep. Bill Owens, D-Plattsburgh, recently announced he will return roughly $75,000 of his 2012 Congressional office budget to the United States Treasury.
This marks the fourth consecutive year Owens has returned surplus office funds to the government, a news release said.
In all, Owens has returned more than $400,000 from his house budget, the release said.
"Members of Congress must be responsible stewards of their own budget, especially as we look for ways to reduce the deficit and cut federal spending," Owens said in the release.
Owens' congressional district includes Fulton and Hamilton counties.
