H.S. Track Roundup: FFCS boys cruise past Schalmont, girls earn tie

FONDA - The Fonda-Fultonville boys overpowered Schalmont, while the girls teams finished in a dead heat at Tuesday's Colonial Council track and field meet at Fonda-Fultonville High School.

Lindsay Therrien picked up four individual victories for the Lady Braves, winning the 100- and 400-meter hurdles, the high jump and the triple jump.

Whitney Martuscello picked up the wins in the shot put and discus for Fonda-Fultonville, while Rebekah Hentnik, Sam Phelps and Kim Geniti also posted individual victories.

For the Braves, Matt Hoffman hit the line first in the 800-, 1,600- and 3,200-meter runs, while Kyle Guiffre won both the shot put and discus.

Tom Lyons, Tom Dwyer, Joe Fox, Dalton Hunter, Tristan Nellis and Jacob Hentnik also claimed individual victories for the Braves.

Canjo girls claim title

The Canajoharie girls track and field team locked up the Western Athletic Conference title Tuesday with a perfect 8-0 dual meet record by sweeping Mekeel Christian Academy and Duanesburg.

The Lady Cougars set a pair of new records and tied one in their final home meet of the season.

Jordyn Logan broke the 400-meter record of Kathy (Toomey) Bowerman that has stood for 29 years with her time of 60.8. She also tied the school high jump record of 5-0 held by Lady Cougars coach Ellee (Wohlgemuth) Fichthorn.

The 1,600-meter relay team of Rosemary Trahan, Christina Towse, Ariannah Logan and Jordyn Logan knocked three seconds off the school record time they set last year with their time of 4:14.6.

Mackenzie Montayne also was a double winner for Canajoharie winning the shot put and discus events.

On the boys side, the Cougars earned a split, defeating Mekeel Christian Academy but came up short against Duanesburg.

Seth Ferguson was a triple winner for Canajoharie, topping the field in the 110-meter high hurdles, the 400-meter intermediate hurdles and the triple jump.

Adetola Lawal won the 100- and 200-meter dashes and the high jump for Duanesburg.

The Mayfield/Northville teams swept their WAC double-dual meet with Galway and Fort Plain at Galway High School.

Todd Briggs was a triple winner for Mayfield/Northville topping the field in the long jump, triple jump and 400-meter hurdles. Brandon Smith won the high jump and the 100-meter dash for Mayfield/Northville.

Gene Ryan won the discus and Zach Florian won the shot put for Fort Plain.

On the girls side, Karissa Morey and Mary Ryan were double winners for Mayfield/Northville.

Morey won the 100- and 400-meter hurdles, while Ryan hit the line first in the 400- and 800-meter runs.

Foothills Council

B-P, Gloversville boys split meets

The Broadalbin-Perth boys split their Foothills Council meet with Glens Falls and Hudson Falls, while the B-P girls dropped both halves of their meet.

Henry Caughey picked up three individual victories for the Patriots, winning the 100-, 200- and 400-meter sprints. Pierre LaPort topped the field in both the shot put and discus.

Cady Nolan was the lone individual victor for the Lady Pats, topping the field in the 3,000-meter run.

The Gloversville boys split their council double-dual meet with Queensbury and South Glens Falls at Queensbury High School Tuesday.

The Huskies fell to Queensbury and defeated the Bulldogs.

On the girls side, Gloversville dropped both ends of the dual meet, while Queensbury completed a sweep of the meet.

Chanel Thomas won three events for the Gloversville girls, taking home victories in the high jump, long jump and the 100-meter hurdles. Thomas' leap of 16-11 in the long jump set a new school record.

For the boys, Matt Rivera, John Knox III and Keyshawn Arnold scored victories.

Johnstown fell to Scotia-Glenville in their Foothills Council meet Tuesday at Scotia-Glenville High School.

Courtney Cirillo posted a pair of victories for the Lady Bills taking home the top spot in the discus and the 400-meter hurdles. Angela Duross won the 200-meter dash, while Carissa O'Brien won the 100-meter high hurdles for the Lady Bills.

On the boys' side, Johnstown's Alex Hollister won the shot put and Ethan Cretser won the discus.

Center State Conference

Clinton sweeps Dolgeville

CLINTON - Clinton swept the boys and girls meets against Dolgeville in Center State Conference competition Tuesday.

In the boys meet, Clinton won 11 of 17 events on its way to the victory.

Jordan Chrobak won the 100 meters and 400 meters for Clinton.

Devin Bullock won the long jump and triple jump for Dolgeville, while Ben Doolittle (400 hurdles), Devin Coonradt (200) and Tyler Richards (pole vault) also posted wins.

Dolgeville also won the 400 relay.

In the girls meet, Clinton won 1 of 17 events on its way to the win.

Liz Stuttler (400 meters, long jump, 200) and Haley Allen (800, 1,500, 3,000) each won three events for Clinton, while Nina Salerno (100 hurdles, 400 hurdles) won two events.

Marisa Chavez won the shot put and discus for Dolgeville.
