LOUDONVILLE - Broadalbin-Perth graduate Matt Gage, a sophomore on the Siena College baseball team, was named Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Pitcher of the Week on Monday.

Gage, who was named Pitcher of the Week for the second straight week, followed up his dominant shutout effort of Canisius with one of the top regular-season performances in MAAC history. He struck out 16 batters in the clinching 8-2 win in the series finale.

The sophomore southpaw allowed just three hits, and after the Peacocks scored their only two runs on a sixth inning homer, he retired the last 10 men he faced. Gage lowered his MAAC ERA to 1.72 and has struck out 52 batters in 56 innings of league work.

The Saints close out regular-season play with a three-game home series against Manhattan on Thursday and Friday.
