Bliss competing for MVCC track

COLUMBIA, Md. - Dolgeville graduate Nichole Bliss won two events last weekend at the National Junior College Athletic Association's Division III championship meet at Howard Community College.

Bliss, a freshman thrower for Mohawk Valley Community College, won the women's discus and hammer competition and helped the Hawks to a second-place finish in the team standings.

Gloucester Community College won the women's team title with 136 1/2 points. Mohawk Valley had 104 points.

Bliss won the women's discus with a throw of 115 feet, 1 inch, and defeated runner-up Liz Faulkner of Gloucester Community College by five inches. She threw the hammer 143 feet, 5 inches, and won that event by five inches over Naomi Hines from Bronx Community College.

Bliss also placed fifth in the shot put.
